Treatment of an injured wing in an Australian Pelican (Pelecanus conspicillatus). Courtesy of Zoomarine, Rome, Italy, Veterinary staff.
Course: 1 month.
HOWTO
CLEAN with saline or mild soap and water (Marseille) and remove necrosis, if present.
The use of disinfectant is not recommended, as it is histologic and it retards the healing process.
To avoid self-inflicted trauma, animals who show tenacity on injuries, it is recommended to apply the protective collar.
At the discretion of the attending veterinarian, and depending on the severity and extent of the wounds, administer systemic antibiotic therapy, according to practice.
APPLY HYPERMIX® in oily formulation during the acute phase: the resolution of the inflammatory phase is obtained in 5 days.
Then, during the granulation phase, we recommend the use of HYPERMIX® in gel formulation on the entire injured surface, up to complete resolution.
HYPERMIX® is unpleasant to the dipterans who colonize the wounds, allowing its management even in critical situations or periosd (summer, poor sanitary conditions and the like).
